Steven Howard Quarfordt

Steven Howard Quarfordt, of Worcester, MA passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2025, in the presence of his family at Mass General Hospital, Boston.

Born on July 30, 1935, to Agnes and Howard Quarfordt, Steve spent his entire “growing up” years at one single address in Elmhurst, NY. He is survived by his wife of 71 years June Didomizio Quarfordt, who he married on February 25, 1961, his sister Kersten Wehrenberg, his four grandchildren, Sharon, Dawn Steve and Kari and 10 grandchildren.

While Steve was devoted to his work as a physician and scientist, his devotion to his family was his life. Son, brother, husband, father and friend……he gave his best.

Steve was known for his sense of humor, kindness and wisdom. He was a fierce lover of life and gave much of himself trying to help others understand this. He tried to live out his life carrying out the words of Jesus who directed us to take care of the least of these.

In his last day he said over and over, “I love you, thank you, thank you, thank you”.

A celebration of Steve’s life will take place in the Spring of 2026 at the Columbarium of Pilgrim United Church, In Durham, North Carolina.
