Sandra L. McMenemy

July 25, 1951 — June 23, 2026

WORCESTER/SHREWSBURY

Sandra L. "Sandy" (Flint) McMenemy, 74, of North Brookfield, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, on July 25, 1951, Sandy graduated from Burncoat High School and proudly served four years in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Sergeant. She carried the strength, dedication, and work ethic she developed during her military service throughout her life.

Following her service, Sandy built a career centered around people. She worked as a waitress and manager at the Boynton Restaurant in Worcester before joining Price Chopper, where she formed lasting friendships and remained a familiar face long after retirement. Many coworkers affectionately referred to her as their "work mom" because of the care, guidance, and encouragement she offered so freely. She was also a proud longtime member of the Elks Emblem Club.

Though known to most as Sandy, to her beloved husband, John "Jack" J. McMenemy Sr., she was always "Darlin'," a nickname that reflected their enduring love and partnership. Together they spent many happy years in Worcester and Shrewsbury.

Sandy found her greatest joy in simple pleasures: sitting on the beach with her extended family at Camp Ellis, Maine, spending time at her “beach house” in Old Orchard Beach, listening to live music, playing bingo with her friends, and gathering around a card table with family and friends. She loved going to the casino, the arcade a.k.a. “kids casino”, playing pitch, CLR, throwing darts, and especially beating Jack at gin. If "Cotton Eyed Joe" came on, you could count on Sandy finding her way to the dance floor. Known as the life of the party, she rarely arrived empty-handed, often bringing her signature tray of cheese, pepperoni, and crackers to share.

Above all, Sandy was a caregiver. She devoted herself to caring for Jack and spent her life putting the needs of others before her own. Whether helping a friend, supporting a coworker, or caring for family, she gave her time, energy, and love without hesitation. Sandy will be remembered for her generous heart, quick smile, unwavering loyalty, and ability to make everyone feel welcome.

She shared a special bond with her daughter, Michelle ("Mimi"), and took immense pride in cheering on her grandson, Trentin, at all his sporting and school events.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, John "Jack" J. McMenemy Sr.; her daughter Michelle Buzzell, bonus children Kenneth McMenemy and his wife Lisa, David McMenemy and his wife Rachel, John McMenemy Jr. and his wife Andi, Mark Dombrowski and his wife Jennifer, Kelli Whewell and her husband Jared; 15 cherished grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Alberta Flint, her siblings, Judith Houlihan, Linda Roy, Lawrence Flint, and her bonus son Michael Dombrowski.

Burial will be private. There will be a celebration of life party “Sandy style” at a later date.
