Sandra R. Marusa, 80, of Sutton, MA passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer on August 31, 2026.
Sandy was born in Worcester, MA at Hahnemann Hospital to parents Gwendolyn (Jacobson) Cron and Bob Cron on January 4th, 1946. She graduated from high school in Worcester and went on to do a one-year program at Ward Business School. She worked at WPI in the registrar’s office from 1966 to 1976 as a clerk-typist. She went on to have two babies and was a stay-at-home mom who worked occasional part-time jobs at places like Honey Dew Donuts and Market 32 where she enjoyed bringing smiles to all the customers’ faces.
Sandy lived in Grafton, MA for over ten years with her husband and children before moving to Sutton in 1986. While living in Grafton the family attended church at the Congregational Church of Grafton. Many happy memories were made around the Grafton Common Historic District.
Sandy found pleasure in the simple things in life. She was an adventurous eater and tea connoisseur. She loved nature and birdwatching. Her favorite bird was the cardinal, with which she will always be fondly associated. She adored animals and had many pets during her lifetime. Her beloved dog, Forrest, was with her near the end of her life and Sandy was comforted to know he is with a new loving family to live out his remaining years happily.
Sandy was predeceased by both of her parents, her husband, Alex Marusa, who she deeply missed after his passing in 2009, as well as her sister-in-law, Mary (Marusa) Lawless, her brother-in-law Richard Marusa, her niece Lori Hebert, her Aunt Bobbie Cron, her stepmother Marjorie Cron, and other members of the Cron family.
Sandy is survived by her children, Stacey Marusa and Daniel Marusa, her son-in-law Shamus Mahan, her sister-in-law Adrienne (Marusa) Hebert, her brother-in-law Donald Hebert, her niece Michele Hebert, her nephews Steven Hebert and John Hebert, as well as her cousins, Jane Roberts, Phyllis Lojewski, Brent Cron, and other members of the Howard, Marusa, and Cron families, in addition to her cherished best friends Sharon Warpula Donahue and Gail Hupalo.
Per Sandy’s wishes, no funeral service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Sandy’s name to the National Audubon Society (https://act.audubon.org).
