WORCESTER – Ronald D. Roy, a man defined by his devotion to family and his zest for life, passed away peacefully at home on April 24, 2026. He was 89 years old.
Born on May 24, 1936, in Easthampton, Massachusetts, Ron was the beloved son of the late Arcade and Yvonne Roy. He spent much of his life in the Worcester area, where he built a large, loving family and a community of lifelong friends.
A Legacy of Love
Ron was predeceased by his first wife and the mother of his six children, Jacqueline A. (Lynch) Roy, with whom he shared 38 beautiful years of marriage until her passing in 1996. He was also predeceased by his second wife, Janet A. Roy, following 23 years of marriage. In his later years, Ron found companionship and great joy in his close relationship with Maryann Barick.
His legacy lives on through his six children: Ronald J. Roy and his wife Sandra of Sutton, MA; Catherine (Roy) Hagerty of Brooklyn, NY; Christine (Roy) Burnham of Worcester, MA; Brian Roy of Taunton, MA; AnneMarie (Roy) Hurtubise and her husband Scott of North Oxford, MA; Anthony Roy and his husband Don Pfeifer of Redondo Beach, CA.
He was the proud grandfather of MacKenzie Roy, Armanda (Roy) Demeris, Owen Hagerty, Keara Hagerty, Stephanie Burnham, and Nicole (Hurtubise) Richard. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren: Giada Demeris, Leonidas Demeris, and Mariah Hurtubise. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Roy, and his wife Maureen, while being reunited in spirit with his late sister, Claire (Roy) Lawrence.
Life Beyond the Green and the Lanes
An active member of the community, Ron was a familiar face at the Worcester Knights of Columbus. He cherished his Friday nights there, sharing stories and laughter with his friends.
Ron was an avid sportsman with a competitive but joyful spirit. As a former bowler with the Auburn Knights of Columbus, he achieved the rare and prestigious feat of a perfect 300 game. When the weather turned warm, Ron could be found on the golf course and once celebrated the ultimate golfer's dream: a hole-in-one. Ron became a member of the Raceway Golf Club to maximize time on the green with his friends on the Senility League.
Ron will be remembered as a man who hit the mark in life—not just in bowling or golf, but in the love he gave to his family and the kindness he showed his friends.
