Fitchburg

FITCHBURG - Robert LeClair, a devoted family man, talented mechanic, and cherished friend, passed away on October 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life well-lived. Born on August 13, 1944, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Robert was the beloved son of Clarence and Irene LeClair, who predeceased him, along with his brothers, Thomas and James.

Robert's life was a testament to hard work and passion. For over 60 years, he worked as an auto mechanic, a career that was more than just a job—it was a calling. Known for his ability to fix anything, Robert's skill with a wrench was unmatched. He was an authority on Volkswagens, operating Bob’s VW for over 30 years. His love for Hot Rods and Harleys was well known, and he always had the fastest car around. His enthusiasm for automobiles was infectious, and he spent countless hours at the coffee shop, sharing stories and laughter with friends, always with his quick wit and sense of humor. His encyclopedic knowledge of music, able to name every song, artist, and year, was a marvel to all who knew him.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Robert had a special place in his heart for his companion greyhounds, whom he adored like his own children. His collection of historical memorabilia was a testament to the many interests he cultivated throughout his life.

Robert is survived by his loving daughter, Christine Lussier, and son, Thomas LeClair, who carry forward his legacy. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Emily and Allison Lussier, McKenzie and Tucker Pappas, and Isabella and Olivia LeClair, who were his pride and joy. His sister, Jane Nichols, also survives him, offering comfort and shared memories.

In keeping with Robert’s wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor his life. The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Robert's memory to Greyhound Friends, an organization close to his heart, located in Hopkinton, MA.

Robert LeClair's life was a beacon of joy and dedication, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His spirit and laughter will forever echo in the hearts of those he touched.
