LUNENBURG - Norbert A. D. Albertson Jr., 84, of Lunenburg died at home on March 16th after a long illness.

Norb was born in Montclair, N.J., to Norbert and Elaine Meyer Albertson. After studies at Penn State and a stint in the Army, Norb moved to Massachusetts where he started a career as a technical writer. He had a keen mind and was interested in books of all kinds. After teaching himself Homeric Greek, Norbert translated both The Odyssey and The Iliad into English blank verse. He also wrote the scripts for several kung fu movies, including the cult classic Death Promise.

Norb played trumpet with the Atlantic Wind Symphony. He loved classical music, especially Mozart. He coached his children’s sports teams and more recently he volunteered at the Lunenburg Community Pollinator Habitat.

He leaves his wife Virginia (Ginny) Albertson; his children Jane L. Albertson of California and Boyd Christian Albertson of Lunenburg; his brother and sister-in-law Jon A. and Rita Albertson of Newton; sisters-in-law, Suzanne Olson of Long Island, N.Y., and Nan Fornal of Chicago; four nephews, one niece and two grandnephews.

There are no calling hours. A celebration of his life will be held at a later time.
