WEST BOYLSTON – Maryellen (Villnave) Smith, age 67, passed away peacefully at home in West Boylston on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late John P. and Elva (Jacques) Villnave.

Born in Worcester, Maryellen’s family moved to Holden at a young age where she graduated from Wachusett Regional High School, class of 1976. She attended Quinsigamond Community College where she attended their nursing program. She went on to work for her career as a Registered Nurse at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester.

She met the love of her life, Glenn Smith, and raised their family in Worcester and later West Boylston.

She loved gardening and was known to be very generous and always willing to help those in need. She gave away many of her handmade blankets. Since she was a child, Maryellen’s family would travel yearly to Hampton Beach, NH. These trips turned into very memorable family vacations for her children.

She had a special relationship with her daughter, Melanie, who meant the world to her and sadly predeceased her.

She is survived by her 2 daughters, Jessica Wilson and her husband, Ian of Charlton, Allison Smith and her partner, Brandon Holden of Leominster; 2 sisters, Carol Johnson and her husband, Peter of Stowe, Donna Edwards and her husband, Danny of Warwick, RI; and 2 grandchildren, Oliver and Aurora Wilson.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Glenn I. Smith; her daughter, Melanie Smith; her brother, John Villnave; and her sister, Kathleen Barosi.
