LUNENBURG - Marian Anderson, 84, passed away January 25th, peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
A longtime resident of Lunenburg, Marian Anderson was the daughter of Reverand Leon Dickinson and Florence Kraft. She was married to Bruce Anderson for 42 years until he passed away in 2010. She and Bruce adopted their son Daniel Anderson, who also passed away in 2010. She is survived by her sons Lee and Bradley Anderson, her brother John Dickinson, her niece Hazel Dickinson Whightman, and her foster daughter Chrystian Hatfield.
Marian spent many years as a computer programmer, as well as teaching computer programming to college students. For approximately 25 years until she retired she handled the financial accounts at Notre Dame Preparatory School in Fitchburg Massachusetts, where Lee and Brad went to High School, as well as running the Sunday night Bingos at the school.
Marian had a generous soul and was always willing help anyone who needed a helping hand. Without hesitation she accepted the responsibility of caretaker of her mother Florence, mother-in-law Edith Anderson, her husband Bruce and her son Daniel when they became terminally ill. She had since opened her home to many people who had nowhere to go and needed a place to live. Everyone knew they could count on Marian to help if they needed it.
Marian’s Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, May 9th, at 10:00 am at the First Congregational Church of Boylston, 10 Church St, Boylston MA. There will be a part of the service where people can share memories of Marian and everyone is welcome and encouraged to do so.
