Maria A. Liu

Worcester – Maria Anna Liu, 63, surrounded by her family, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025. She was born in Burma, the beloved daughter of Joe and the late B. Angeline (Emmanuel) Liu and has lived in Worcester for many years. Maria worked as a restaurant manager for many years. Outside of work, she found joy in playing Chinese mahjong and poker—more than games, they were treasured traditions that brought her closer to those she loved most. Her greatest happiness came from time spent with family, friends and pets who remained the center of her world.

Maria is survived by her father, Joe Liu; her brothers, Basil Liu and his children, Anthony and Brianna of Worcester and Michael Liu of Worcester; and her sisters, Christine Callender and her husband, Travor and their children, Travor Jr. and Jaqueline Castaneda of Georgia, Julie Russo and her children, Michael Meagher and Brittney Childs, and Helena Lewis and her husband, Geoffrey and their son, Logan of Worcester.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at St. Bernard’s Church, 228 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA 01605. Burial will be private. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Kelly Cremation and Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln Street, Worcester.
