Laurie Wilcox

May 13, 1952 — February 12, 2026

Worcester

God had seen that Laurie Dale Wilcox (aged 73) was getting tired and He wrapped her up in His love and mercy, calling her home, after succumbing to reoccurring pneumonia with sepsis on the morning of February 12, 2026 at UMass Memorial Hospital.

Born a Worcester native as Laurie Dale Ewer on May 13,1952 to Janice and George Ewer. She had a rough upbringing, going back and forth between being home and spending a period of time with a foster family. But she survived it all, along side her brother and best friend Gary Ewer, who passed away too soon at the age of 23 in 1976.

Laurie graduated Wachusett Regional High School in Holden in 1970 and shortly after married her first husband George Hubert and together they welcomed two children, Rachel and John.

Laurie would go on to marry a second husband in the mid 1980's, Denis Wilcox (deceased '98') and together they welcomed their daughter Crystal.

She lived her life the way she wanted to and no one could tell her different.

She spent the last 28 years of her life battling all kinds of health issues and being in and out of hospitals. As a part of her long term health care and treatment, staff from the Family Health Center on Queen Street became family friends. A special thanks to Dr. Philip Bolduc and nurses Linda Guidi and Joyce Vincents-Bachier on always looking out for Laurie's health and quality of life. And added in most recent 5 years, Dr.Jennifer Fantasia, affiliated with UMass Urology.

Laurie enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, listening to all kinds of music, reading anything about history but really loved anything on President Lincoln, and she loved watching movies; she must have seen Gone with the Wind and Titanic hundreds of times. She had a remarkable sweet tooth, with too many favorites to list. She had a strong personality but loved attention from those who gave it to her. She wasn't perfect, but she lived her life as best as she thought she could with the cards that were dealt to her in life. She departed from this world with the love and acceptance in her heart of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Laurie is survived by her 3 children, Rachel LaFlash, John Hubert, and Crystal Wilcox.

A private family service was held on Tuesday, March 3rd. With eternal gratitude and special thanks to all who donated and contributed to the GoFundMe account posted by Crystal and services provided by Kelly Funeral Home.

At last, Laurie's final wishes were honored and carried out at her request to be cremated.

May she sleep in Heavenly peace.
