Worcester - Kathryn A. Barbaro, age 61, passed away suddenly July 4, 2026, from the affects of cancer, at Shrewsbury Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Kathryn was born in Boston, the loving daughter of Angelo and Margaret (Giers) Barbaro.
Early in life, Kathy and her family moved to Worcester. Kathy was always full of energy, and an active member of the Special Olympics. She was known to love traveling, and visited Florida each year to visit her sister, and nieces. She enjoyed spending time in her program and with her friends, loved to meet new people, and was a faithful employee at Whole Foods Supermarket. Kathy loved life and most of all loved her family.
Kathy is survived her siblings; Mary O’Brien, Robert Giers, and Stephen Giers. She also leaves behind her nieces Erin and April O’Brien of Florida, as well as the Eliason Family of New Hampshire and Maine; George, Lisa, Maggie, Billy Jr., Dawn and Norman Robertson. She will also be dearly missed by her cousin John Radziewicz of Melrose.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, in addition to; Patricia Robertson, William Giers Jr., Richard Giers, Michael Barbaro, and Marianne Radziewicz of Fairfax, Virginia.
A visitation will be held with Kathy’s family from 10:00 – 11:00AM Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Kelly Cremation and Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln St. Worcester MA. A memorial service will take place immediately after. The celebration of Kathryn's life will continue that afternoon, in Holy Cross Cemetery, where a committal service will begin at 2:00PM, located at 175 Broadway, Malden MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Special Olympics of Massachusetts.
