Worcester

WORCESTER – Judith “Judy” (Vigeant) Riani, age 84, died peacefully on July 4, 2026 at St. Vincent Hospital after a period of declining health. Born in Worcester, Judy was the daughter of Edward and Lucille (Lucier) Vigeant.

Judy graduated from Quinsigamond Community College with an associate degree, after which she pursued a decades-long career in Compliance at State Mutual Insurance.

“Judy was a strong, loving and courageous woman who overcame so many obstacles in her life. She loved to laugh and had a great capacity to bring smiles to people’s faces.”

In her later years, Judy thrived at The Willows of Worcester, where she enjoyed socializing and nightly dinners with her friends there. Whether she was playing cards, listening to music, or performing on stage with the Weeping Willows Gang, Judy truly made the most of her 14 years at the Willows within her very active adult community. She was always looking forward to her next trips to Mohegan Sun or Las Vegas. She loved traveling, family events, special get togethers, and going out to lunch. Above all, she was dedicated to her cherished family, and to God, attending weekly Mass for decades at Holy Family Parish, and later at The Willows until her final days.

Judy will be lovingly missed and remembered by her devoted children, Lucille Miner of Grafton, Linda Steele of East Falmouth, and Laurie Walsh of Auburn; her 8 cherished grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and her cousin Judy. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soulmate, Richard R. Riani in 2011.

Family and friends will gather to honor Judy’s memory at a Graveside Memorial Service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 15th at St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester. Arrangements are in the care of Kelly Cremation and Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln Street, Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in memory of Judith Riani.
