Andrew Rice, beloved son, brother, partner, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026, just shy of his 50th birthday.
Andrew was born on August 20, 1976 in Camp Lejuene, North Carolina. Andrew's family moved to Maine and he spent most of his childhood and adulthood in the Bangor area.
Andrew was someone who lived life hard and fast, always with his own unique spirit and a determination to do things his way. He had a deep love for nature and the outdoors and found happiness in being outside, surrounded by the beauty of New England. He traveled across country twice with his cat, Edith, whom he called his "little girl", sleeping under the stars in the national parks. One of his favorite places was the Redwoods National Park in California. It was his dream to live in Alaska off grid, although he never had the chance.
Whether it was working with his hands, enjoying the outdoors, or cheering on his favorite New England sports teams, Andrew found joy in the things he loved.
A hardworking man by nature, Andrew learned the carpentry trade from his grandfather, "Gramps", carrying with him the skills, lessons, and work ethic that were passed down to him. He took pride in working with his hands and in being someone who could build, fix, and create.
Andrew had a way of making an impression on the people around him. He was deeply loved by his family and friends, and his absence will leave a space that cannot be filled. He will be remembered for his strength, his determination, his love of the outdoors, his passion for New England sports, and for the many memories he created with the people who loved him.
Andrew was predeceased by his mother, Sandra Rice; his sister, Jennifer Curry; his Nana, Patricia Parks; his grammie, Edith Rice; and his namesake, Andy Rice "Gramps" as Andrew called him.
He is survived by his beloved partner, Kimberly Farwell; his father, John Rice; his sister, Rebecca Rice; his son, McKinley Robinson-Rice; and numerous family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Andrew's life may have been far too short, but he lived it fully and left his mark on the hearts of many.
A celebration of Andrew's life will be held at a later date. Details will be announced when arrangements have been finalized.
Rest easy, Andrew. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
