WORCESTER - Gerardo Pichardo Jiménez, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, January 22, 2026, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester.
Gerardo was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where he attended primary school. In 1976, he emigrated to the United States and settled in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he raised his family and built a life rooted in love, hard work, and devotion to those closest to him. He spent many years working in maintenance for several hospitals; a role he took pride in and through which he demonstrated his strong work ethic and dedication.
Gerardo is survived by his beloved wife, Nereyda M. (Bonilla) Pichardo of Worcester; his children, Gerardo Pichardo, Jr. of Florida, Maria Isabel Pichardo of Boston, Ariel Pichardo of Boston, Bethania Herrera and her husband Nelson of Rhode Island, and Melida Pichardo of New York; his stepson, Edison Ramos of Worcester; and his stepdaughter, Ana Diaz and her husband Hugo Luis of Worcester.
He is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Nelson and Genesis Herrera; Maria Cecilia, Alfredo, Gerardo Roberto, Gerardo Junior, and Genexy Maris Pichardo; Sandro and Lisandro Suarez; Kendrycx Kranwinkel; Michael, Sevigny, John Garcia, and Gabby Peris. He leaves behind his cherished great-grandchildren: Zoe and Jeremiah David; Alfredy, Matteo, Alfredy Jr., Alex, and Joanna Pichardo; and Caleb and Kalany Suarez.
Gerardo enjoyed watching television, cooking, traveling to the Dominican Republic, and watching and playing baseball. Above all, he treasured spending time with his family, which brought him his greatest joy.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Gerardo’s family for a Calling Hour on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. at Kelly Cremation and Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln Street, Worcester. Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster Street, Worcester.
