Gerald “Jerry” Groccia

September 2, 1942-July 22, 2025

Jerry passed away peacefully on 7/22/25 surrounded by his beloved family. Jerry was born in Worcester, one of ten children born to Italian immigrants Salvatore Groccia Sr and Rose (Perri) Groccia. Jerry worked for more than 25 years for the University of Massachusetts Medical School as a Chef before retiring in 1997.

Jerry is survived by his daughter Julie and her partner Carlos Villamarin of Paxton whom he lived with after the love of his life Sheila “Schwartz” Groccia passed in 2021 from Covid. Jerry is also survived by his first-born Gerald “Jerry” Groccia, and his partner Amy Flagg, and Michael Groccia all of Worcester. 14 grandchildren, Carla, Christopher, Carlos III, Joshua, Brittany, Tiffany, Angelina, Jessica, Kaleigh, Katie, Michael, Vincent, Olivia and Heather. 17 great grandchildren and one due in October 2025. One sister Delores”Ducky” Moroski of Worcester: three sister in laws, Sylvia Bohanek , Gail Cohen and Betty Cameron; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Eight siblings, Anthony, Joseph, Ralph, Salvatore, George, Elizabeth, Louise, and Beatrice, all predeceased him.

Jerry made friends easily everywhere he went with his unfiltered humor. He never hesitated to speak his mind. He accepted people the way they were, never judging and always welcoming. His presence was a source of comfort and laughter. A visit to the casino and watching movies brought him joy, but even more, he cherished the simple things: his sister Ducky’s homemade meatballs, spending time in the garage on the weekends with his two sons and Harry and the quiet moments spent with his daughter whose devoted care meant the world to him.

Although our hearts are heavy, we celebrate his life and find comfort that he is reunited with his wife Sheila and they’re both watching over us.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Eric S. Lida, Lenka M. Drahoradova CNP and Fresenius Kidney Care team in Sutton for their compassion, dedication, and care throughout his journey. He will deeply be missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.

A Mass will be held on Saturday September 6 th , 2025, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Our Lady of Loreto Parish @11:00am, followed by a Celebration of Life.
