SOUTHBRIDGE - Derrick James Cormier, Sr., 52, of Southbridge, Massachusetts, passed away on April 23, 2026. Born on August 20, 1973, in Worcester, Massachusetts, Derrick lived a life marked by devotion to his family, service to his country, and a passion for bringing people together.
A proud graduate of Kathleen Burns Preparatory School’s Class of 1991, Derrick was recognized for his academic and personal achievements. He also earned a Class A license, showcasing his dedication to hard work and self-improvement. Shortly after high school, Derrick answered the call to serve his country as a member of the United States Marines. From 1991 to 1992, he served in Cuba with pride and honor.
Derrick’s love for his family was at the heart of everything he did. He is survived by his children: son Derrick Cormier Jr., daughters Julia Cormier, Kayla Roman, and Pamela Cormier; and his in-law children Joseph Santiago Sr., Roberto Roman, and Precious Crossley. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Iris Cormier, Joseph Santiago Jr., Jovani Santiago, Jonah Santiago, Galaxie Robles, Greycin Robles, Zowie Robles, Anna Roman, Madison Roman, and Aubrey Cormier. Derrick also leaves behind his siblings: sister Stephanie Cormier and brothers Robert Gratton and Stephan Cormier. He was deeply loved by many nieces and nephews including Johnny, Devon, Bobby, Jalyssa, and countless others who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Derrick was predeceased by his mother Marylou Cormier; brother Darrin Cormier; niece Jayna Cormier; and son DJ Cormier. Their memories remained close to him throughout his life.
Known for his warm spirit and love of gathering with loved ones. In addition to being a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many, Derrick made an extraordinary impact as an organ donor. Through this selfless act of generosity following his passing, he has saved numerous lives—a testament to the kind-hearted man he was.
Derrick’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May those who loved him find comfort in remembering the joy he brought into their lives and the legacy of love he leaves behind. Visitation will be held on May 8, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 02:00 PM at Kelly Cremation & Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln Street in Worcester. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend.
