Compton E. G. Alleyne

November 24, 1936 — March 8, 2025

Compton E. G. Alleyne, a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born on November 24, 1936, in Anna Catherina, Guyana, to the late Elsie and Lloyd Alleyne, he was the first of eight children to Elsie Savery.

Compton worked at the Leonora and Uitvlugt sugar estates for the majority of his life, holding positions such as clerk, bookkeeper, draftsman, and Commissioner of the Boerasirie Conservancy, where he worked until his retirement in1996. A few years after his retirement, he left Guyana and joined his family in the United States. He resided in New York and Massachusetts, but his dislike of cold weather prompted him to move to Florida, where he enjoyed the warm, tropical climate. In 2005, Compton joined the staff at Publix Supermarkets Enterprise in Melbourne, FL where he worked for fifteen years. However, during the challenging times of the pandemic, he left Florida and returned to Massachusetts to live with his youngest sister.

Compton Alleyne was known for his generosity, wisdom, and unwavering kindness. He touched the lives of many throughout his life. His legacy of love and compassion will remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.

Compton is survived by his 6 children, 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 5 sisters, 1 brother, 10 nephews, 5 nieces, 12 great-nephews, 6 great-nieces, and cousins, with whom he shared a special bond, and many other relatives and friends.

Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out – “those who have done what is good will rise to live.” John 5:28-29.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Northboro Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 30 Brigham Street, Northborough, MA, followed by a repass.
