Carole J. Thompson

December 25, 1936 — May 20, 2025

WORCESTER - Carole J Thompson died on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. Born on Christmas Day in 1936 in Springfield Mass, the daughter of Charles Denver and Dorothy (Mahler). The youngest of 5 siblings. With only a few years living out of the state, Carole was a lifelong resident within the state of Massachusetts with the last residence in Worcester for the last 28 years.

Carole dedicated her life to helping others whether it was marching for civil rights with Martin Luther King, fighting for peace during the wars and conflicts or working as therapist to assists those fighting the demons of many types of addictions. She was dedicated to working on numerous campaigns of Democratic candidates running for office locally, statewide and nationally. Whether it was finding her standing on a street corner with her Pray for Peace sign, writing postcards every month for year to people in the neighborhood to be aware of the importance of voting, an avid and long standing participant at the state Democratic conventions to working at the polls during every election, these all were her passion, dedication and calling throughout her lifetime.

Carole LOVED her garden. Endless hours spent making the hillside outside the condo where she lived a spectacular beauty for the whole neighborhood to enjoy. Everyone wondered yet also appreciated how she managed to climb up and down the hillside every day making it a showcase for many years.

Aside from her garden, there wasn’t a day that went by where she couldn’t be found reading the New York Times and the Boston Globe, reading the entire paper and working on the crossword puzzles in both papers. She also had an endless stack of books to get through!

A celebration of life service will be planned for a future date. Those interested in attending can leave a message.

Carole’s daughters, Jeanne and Eleanor request that in lieu of flowers, for those that would like to make a contribution in Carole’s honor, donations can be made to your local animal shelter or to MassDems.org

Arrangements are under the care of Kelly Cremation & Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln Street, Worcester.
