Carla Caldwell

Carla Regina Caldwell, was born May 29, 1965, in Colón Panama, and passed away on August 17, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by love, care, honesty, and an unwavering devotion to the people she called family.

To know Carla was to know someone who cared for others deeply. She dedicated her professional life to helping people as a nurse, and that spirit of service extended beyond her career. Even after retirement, Carla continued to care for those around her in countless ways. Whether you needed advice, help, reassurance, or simply someone you knew would answer the phone, Carla was only a call away.

Affectionately called “Ma” by so many and respectfully known as “Ms. Carla” by countless others, she was a mother not only to her own children, but in many ways to everyone she loved. Carla was straightforward and no-nonsense, but always with care. You could count on her to tell you the truth, and just as surely count on her to be there when you needed her. She was fiercely protective, endlessly giving, and loved with her whole heart.

Carla also found joy in the things she loved, particularly the music of Prince, whom she adored so much that her puppy, Prince, was named after him. She also had a special love for elephants, which she believed brought good luck, and over the years amassed a collection that became unmistakably hers.

Above everything else, Carla was a mother. She gave everything she had to her children, Jessica, Andréa, and Gregory, and proudly embraced her reputation as a “helicopter mom,” even commemorating the title with a tattoo bearing her children's initials. Her love and devotion extended just as fiercely to her five grandchildren, Delaney Jr., Zayvaun, Nyeer, Kyree, and Cairo, whom she described as the most important part of her life.

Carla shared several decades of life and family with her husband, Greg Sr., who remained by her side and cared for her with love and devotion.

She also leaves behind her siblings, Leila, Donna, Nena, Belinda, and Junior, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and the many people who were fortunate enough to consider her a second mom.

She was predeceased by her mother, Elvira Becoat; her stepfather, Lynwood Becoat Sr.; and her father, Ruperto Francis.

Carla was a helper, a protector, a provider, and the person you could count on. But most of all, she was a mother. The mother. To her children, to her grandchildren, and to so many people whose lives were made better simply because she was in them.

She loved beyond words, gave without hesitation, and cared without condition.

Carla will be loved, remembered, and missed beyond measure.
