Barbara Joan (Baird) Curtin

October 17, 1950 — January 18, 2026

Barbara Joan (Baird) Curtin 75 years young of St. Petersburg, Florida formally of Acton, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on January 18th, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, after a fierce battle with cancer.

Born on October 17, 1950 on Long Island New York to her mother Dorothy Hanely Baird and father Frank Baird Sr. After growing up with her younger sister and brother in New York, Barbara went on to college in Massachusetts where she got her associates degree in accounting. She married David Curtin in 1971 and raised their two sons Thomas and Christopher in Acton, Mass. After her children started school, she began her professional career. She started at General Radio in Concord, then moved on to Future Link Technologies in Bolton. In 2002 Barbara and David moved to St. Petersburg Florida where she finished her career in accounts payable for Newport International.

Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family; she enjoyed coming up to Massachusetts during the holidays and surprising her children and grandchildren with visits on their birthdays. She loved dining at both old and new restaurants. Barbara loved visiting all the Disney parks, but held a special place in her heart for Sea World, especially since dolphins were her favorite animal. Her husband, David, took her to swim with the dolphins, which was another fond memory of hers. She also really enjoyed being able to go on a family cruise in May of 2022, where she finally got to hold a sloth in Roatan, Honduras. Barbara loved to collect stuffed animal, Beanie Babies, snow globes, and any dolphin-themed items.

Barbara was fondly known by her grandchildren as Nani. Her children and grandchildren were what brought her her greatest joy in life. She is survived by her son Thomas Curtin and his wife Rachel Curtin, her son Christopher Curtin and fiancé Angelina Lavezzo, her grandchildren Sawyer, Anna, Spencer, Connor Curtin, Kara Harunkiewicz, and Cole Lavezzo, as well as her great-granddaughter Willow Curtin. She is also survived by her sister Virginia (Baird) Gemmell of Chicago Illinois, brother Frank Baird Jr. and his wife Nancy of Long Island New York, and her beloved cat Lukey. She also leaves behind her many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Hanley Baird, her father Frank Baird Sr., and her beloved husband of 54 years David Stuart Curtin who passed away just 97 days before Barbara. They truly never wanted to be apart in life or in death. A private family burial will be held later this year. May her memory bring comfort and peace to all who knew her and loved her.
