Allan D Randall

January 26, 1932 — December 29, 2025

Sand Lake, NY / Worcester, MA

Allan D. Randall, age 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Oasis at Dodge Park in Worcester, MA. He was born in Sharon, CT, the beloved son of the late Merle R. Randall and Doris H. (Dow) Randall, and was raised in Cromwell, CT.

Allan graduated from Cromwell High School, and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut, followed by a Master’s degree from the University of Illinois. For more than 35 years, Allan served with dedication as a groundwater hydrologist for the US Geological Survey, devoting his career to analyzing how groundwater moves, is replenished, and can be sustainably managed. He was a principal contributor, or coauthor, of numerous studies and reports that may guide local and regional water resource management for years to come. Even after his retirement, his passion for the field never waned; he continued to volunteer his expertise as needed and completed several hydrological studies in his retirement years.

Allan married the love of his life, Edwina A. (Sutherland) Randall, in 1958 and after a couple moves, they ultimately made their home in Sand Lake. A devoted member of the Church of the Covenant in Averill Park, NY, Allan, amongst many other roles, served on the Social Concerns Committee and sang in the church choir. A lifelong lover of nature, he was a committed environmental advocate and activist. He founded the Sand Lake United Recycling Program (SLURP), through which he helped organize the collection and recycling of bottles and cans for the benefit of the community.

Allan and Edwina shared a love of travel, exploring destinations throughout the United States and abroad. Wherever he went, Allan took great interest in learning the history of the places he visited and encouraged his children to do the same, instilling in them a lasting appreciation for education, culture, and curiosity.

Above all else, Allan was a devoted husband and father. He remained close to Edwina throughout his final days at Oasis at Dodge Park, where they both resided, a testament to their enduring love and partnership.

Allan is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Edwina A. (Sutherland) Randall; his son, David Randall of Cary, North Carolina; his daughter, Alida Lupsiewicz and her husband, Philip, of Bristol, Rhode Island; and his cherished grandchildren, Ian Lupsiewicz and his wife, Paige, and Derek Lupsiewicz.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In Allan’s memory, donations may be made to the Church of the Covenant, United Methodist Church, 3055 New York Highway 43, Averill Park, NY 12018, or at www.cocum.org. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Kelly Cremation and Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
