Alice Marie (Schrot) Wilshire, Age 80, born on June 29th, 1945, in Clearfield,Pennsylvania, peacefully passed away on Friday, October 17th. She was the youngest daughter of the late Ethel and Rudolf Schrot.
Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert G. (Jerry) Wilshire in 2010. She is survived by her son, A. Jason Wilshire and daughter-in-law Heather Wilshire of Shirley, MA, her daughter, Megan (Wilshire) Dupuis and son-in-law Chris Dupuis of Victoria, BC, two grandchildren, A. Jameson Wilshire and Kaylee Dupuis, two siblings, Rudy Schrot and Maryanne Edmunson, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She will be greatly missed by loving friends and family.
Alice graduated from St. Bonaventure University in western New York with a degree in library science and began work as a children's librarian in Buffalo, New York. She had several articles published in the Milford Daily News, and a short story in the children's magazine Pockets. Alice volunteered and worked at the old Taft Library in Mendon, Mass for many years. Her passion for libraries and books continued throughout her whole life and she often told stories of her time at the library after she retired.
Alice had a deep love of nature, which led her to volunteer at the Audubon Society as afield guide. She often took nature walks near her home, where anyone who joined her would be entertained with the name of every bird, plant, and animal they came across.
