Leominster, MA — Albert Joseph Thebeau, 74, of Leominster, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, at UMass Memorial HealthAlliance Hospital, Leominster Campus, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born on December 8, 1951, in St. Ignace, New Brunswick, Canada, Albert was the beloved son of the late Telex and Alma (Richard) Thebeau. Originally from Canada, he carried a profound love for his Acadian heritage throughout his entire life. This love of his roots was a precious gift he shared with his family; every year, they looked forward to family vacations traveling back to Canada to visit cherished relatives and stay connected to their heritage.
Professionally, Albert was a loyal and hard-working man, spending more than 30 years as a dedicated employee for JC Vinyl before being forced to retire due to his illness in 2016.
Albert was a devout Catholic and a longtime, faithful parishioner of St. Cecilia Parish. A gentleman of deep faith and quiet strength, his greatest joy in life was his family. He shared a deep, enduring love with his wife of 52 years, May. He was a proud and loving father, and he shared an incredibly close, wonderful bond with his five grandchildren.
His Acadian pride was woven into his daily life, and his home and car were often filled with the familiar, comforting sounds of classic country and French Acadian music. He was also a proud, longtime member of the Franco American Club, where he cherished the camaraderie of his community.
Albert found true peace and solitude in the beauty of the outdoors. Whether he was fishing, hunting, taking quiet drives through the woods to spot wildlife, or simply watching the birds gather outside his kitchen window, nature was his sanctuary. He was a passionate Montreal Canadiens hockey fan, and at home, he was an avid card player—a favorite pastime he passionately enjoyed right up until his final days. He also had a great appreciation for classic cars, especially 1969 Chevelles and his beloved Yellow Mustang. Albert will be remembered for his steadfast devotion to his faith, his family, and the simple pleasures that brought him so much happiness.
The Thebeau family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and a special thank you to the Oncology Department at Burbank and to HealthAlliance Home Health & Hospice for their exceptional, compassionate care and comfort during Albert's journey.
Albert is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, May (Comeau) Thebeau; his sons, Brian Thebeau (Lisa) of Leominster, MA, and Daniel Thebeau (Caroline) of Murrells Inlet, SC; and his daughter, Gisele Breton (Greg) of Templeton, MA. He leaves behind his five cherished grandchildren, Logan Breton, Ethan Thebeau, Sydney Breton, Platt Thebeau, and Abbott Thebeau.
He is also survived by his siblings, Regina (Alyre) Godin, Alphée (the late Jacqueline) Thebeau, Yvonne (the late Jean-Paul) Richard, Délia (Gérald) Daigle, Adélard (Francine) Thebeau, Linda (Ronny) Cassie, Lydie-Anne (Paul-Émile) Robichaud, Rose-Mai (Yves) Gallant, and Annette (Eric) Richard. Additionally, he leaves behind his sister-in-law, Alice Comeau; his two godsons, Emmanuel Thebeau and Lucien Comeau; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Albert was predeceased by his parents, Telex and Alma (Richard) Thebeau; his sisters, Rosa (the late Claude) Landry and Eva Thebeau; as well as his beloved brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and in-laws, Jean-Paul Richard, Claude Landry, Marguerite and O'Neil Gosselin, Antoine Comeau, Robert Comeau, Jeanne Comeau, and Raymond Comeau.
